Our parent and community volunteers are the key to our success!  We appreciate all the volunteer hours committed to our school and PTA programs.
Summervolunteers are needed for the following dates:
August 4th: We are looking for volunteers to help at 10:00am to collate and stuff the summer packets.  This is the packet that includes school and PTA information regarding back to school, teacher assignments etc. We will make 530 packets and it shouldn’t take more than 2 hours. If some of you can stay, after packet stuffing,  we can have lunch and then start on signs and decorations for the Tax Free Event on August 10th.
 
August 10th: This is one of our biggest volunteer events of the year. The Tax Free School Supply event is 4pm-6pm. We are looking for about 30 volunteers. 

August 18th: We are looking for volunteers at 10:30am to assist with school supply disbursement. We need helpers, with wagons, dollies, etc, to take school supplies to the grade level areas and distribute based on teacher direction. In the past, middle schoolers have enjoyed coming back to help at this event.

August 21st: We need volunteers from 3pm-5pm (no one is needed for the entire time, just some of the time) to man stations in the entryway during several E. The stations are similar to Tax Free Day (membership, Dad’s Club, directory, corporate partners, spirit wear, volunteers, school supplies, cashier).
 

We really appreciate your help and your time. Even if you can’t volunteer for these first few events, please get a PTA shirt; I know you’ll have an opportunity to wear it. 

(July 26th: PTA shirt orders are due NOW, money due later. The theme for next year is “Back to Basics”. I think you will like the spin, it’s a purple shirt with a survivor style logo on the front and the school motto on the back. I need the shirt order now so we can have the shirts back for Tax Free night. It’s the same brand as the “Be a Hero” shirts from last year, so it should be easier to pick a size. Prices are $12 for S-XL, $14 for XXL and $15 for XXXL are due to me after August 1st (but order now) cash or check payable to Tracy Lake.)

PTA Chair positions 2009-2010 currently open!
Art Workshop Coordinate and supervise the Art Workshop afterschool program.
Community Membership
Corporate Partners Publicize passive fundraisers, Box Tops (10cents each), Campbell’s and Tyson (14cents each) Labels, collect them and send them in for $$ or catalog orders.   Kroger, Albertsons, Tom Thumb, and Target.
Cultural Diversity Promote awareness of cultural diversity through programs and communication.  Lead the coordination of a cultural awareness event for the school.
Directory Create and distribute the PTA directory in the fall, as well as, solicit advertisers.
Environmental Promote and coordinate environmental awareness programs, including the Clean the Creek event and working on school landscaping.
Family Art Night
Family Week Coordinate and Promote Family Week events such as a school wide play day, to celebrate Hedgcoxe families.
Hedgcoxe Chess
Co-Chair

Work with Kathie Lance to coordinate classes, teachers and volunteers. Hedgcoxe Chess Website
Holiday Fair Coordinate with vendor and volunteers for event the first week of December for students to have a fun and safe place to purchase gifts for the holiday season.
Legislative Attend PISD school board meetings and report to the PTA executive board, serve as an information channel on state/PTA legislative activities.
Newsletter Produce and distribute a monthly PTA newsletter for the YOO Thursday information Packs.
Newcomers Work with school secretary and counselor to welcome new students and families. Plan a Newcomers breakfast and school tour.
Office Coordinator Schedule office volunteers.
Publicity Promote and publicize Hedgcoxe events through news media as well as internal communications and the principal’s eNews.
Spirit Wear Design, order and sell Spirit Wear and Field Day shirts.
Sunshine Celebrate holidays, birthdays, best wishes and offer sympathy for our teachers and staff. Help coordinate support for our families during times of loss.
Volunteer Coordinator Coordinate volunteer requests between chairs and volunteers, secure volunteers, track volunteer hours.
Workroom Coordinater Coordinate and supervise PTA Workroom to support classroom needs.  
Science Adventures

Coordinate and supervise science adventure program
